Cr Geraldine Conheady was first elected to Corangamite Shire Council in July 2020 (by-election) and re-elected in 2020 and 2024.

Geraldine has lived in Noorat for 40 years, raised her seven children here and operated dairy and beef production businesses. Geraldine deeply appreciates our communities, lifestyle and potential. She cares about strategic development and growth for Corangamite, the legacy we leave for our young people and families, our prime food/fibre production zones and the agricultural industries that have sustained the Shire for generations.

What do you believe some of the challenges will be for this Council?

Cost of living, childcare, housing and constrained financial resources are current challenges and can affect community wellbeing. Disciplined management of the Council budget is vital to provide a sensible balance of quality services, community support, and prudent capital expenditure.

What do you hope to achieve as a Councillor?

I will work to leave a legacy of sound planning and positioning that will underpin Corangamite as a municipality of choice for investment and opportunity where families and business can identify a reliable future.

If there is one thing (or project) you want to see happen in your time as Councillor, what would it be?

My hope is to see the implementation of better, more strategic planning controls for appropriate growth and land use within Corangamite Shire and for protection of key farming zones of State and National significance which have primarily provided generational prosperity in the Shire.
